My passion about chiropractic started when I was a teenager. I suffered from chronic migraines that caused me to miss multiple days a week during high school where I would be completely debilitated and bedridden. I went to many different headache specialists, had MRIs and CT scans performed, and tried multiple different medications. Some of these medications I took at onset, some I would take daily, and nothing worked for me. I felt that this was just the way that life was going to be and was told this by many physicians.
After talking with a friend, they convinced me to see their chiropractor. The chiropractor listened to my complaints, asked questions about my migraines, performed a standard physical evaluation, and took X-rays. After my first adjustment I did not get a migraine for 12 days, which was the longest I had ever gone without one. At that moment, I knew that this was what I wanted to be able to do for others suffering from similar problems.
At this point in time, I was at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. I had started out with the idea that nursing was the best career choice for me but decided to switch my major to kinesiology, the study of movement of the human body and how it pertains to health and wellness. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and then continued to Palmer College of Chiropractic where I later earned my Doctor of Chiropractic.
In practice I have worked with people of all walks of life and all ages, the youngest being 1 and the oldest being 97. My goal is to work with every age between 0-100. I enjoy working with people to help them understand what is causing their problem whether it be related to motor vehicle accidents, stress, work, posture, or nutritional inadequacies.
My style of practice is based in educating my patients. I want my patients to be empowered by coming to me, knowing that I will help them find relief, even if that means I refer them to a different practitioner for treatment. My goal is to always see my patients when they are feeling well. Most of the time that means an in-depth treatment session to get their bodies functioning and feeling well and then decreasing the frequency of treatment as they become more functional.
Outside of the office I have many hobbies and interests. During the warmer months of the year I am likely out hiking, fly fishing, crabbing, and mushroom foraging. I am an avid reader, both leisure reading and research, and enjoy cooking.
I look forward to working with you to find wellness.
